Hi Folks,
Can you shoot slugs and buckshot through an improved cylinder? Thanks for your help. Zauer |

Yes.....
It may be the best choke for either load, but only testing on your part will make certain it is. |

Dave's right. Only some patterning will let you know if that's the most accurate choke for slugs or buckshot.
However, if you're trying to figure out which replacement choke to buy for that turkey gun, improved cylinder is the one I'd try first. Remington markets a couple of rifle-sighted barrels for deer hunting. The smooth bore version is fixed improved cylinder. If you're going to use the gun for deer hunting, I recommend a set of fiber optic sights (unless you're going to scope the gun). They attach to the vent rib and make lining up the shot much easier. Some of the nicer sets, like those made by William's FireSights, are adjustable. Also darned handy for turkey hunting with that XF choke. However, shoot it with just the beads first. They may be all you need.

As a note: All Remington 870 Police shotguns now come with an Improved Cylinder barrel. Since they are made to shoot buck shot and slugs, Remington must know something.
