Colt DS

I'm planning on sending my gun to Cylinder & Slide in the near future. I'd like them to install a front sight but not sure which is better, just the simple white dot or the gold bead. Any thoughts on this?

Laura

The white dot will show up better under dim light conditions.
The gold bead tends to disappear in bad light.

To determine which is best for you, paint a gloss white dot on a black object and polish the end of a brass rod.
Compare the two under all lighting conditions and select the one that works for you the best.

I prefer a gold front sight. Gold picks up natural light very well.

I would have installed a white insert; but that's me.
