How did I Totally Miss the NDAA?

Hello Gentlemen. I generally try to keep an eye on the political arena. That said I found this stuff over this last week and was shocked that I missed it. This legislation was passed into law last year. Now these provisions are not really anything new. We have already seen this sort of thing with the patriot act. However I take an active interest in protecting my rights and those of my fellow Americans. This is a real wake up call for me. The fact I totally missed something this big has led me to the conclusion that there just isn't enough information out in the open. You have to really look, and even dig for it sometimes. If I missed this I know there are others less interested than I that will also have missed it. So how do you guys stay in the know about important things like this? How do we stay more informed? Do any of you have an internet news source, or blog, you subscribe to that covers this stuff regularly? Perhaps the mods will let us start a sticky where we can link articles concerning these issues?

Let's also stay away from discussing the MSM with this subject. We all know where that leads and we can't change it, so let's work together to find a way to stay informed in spite of it.

Here is a list of the senators that voted for this bill.

And here is the record of all votes from the house of representatives.

Just goes to show that the information is there if you know what you're looking for. It is the knowing what to look for that needs work.

Wow. That's a lot of words with no informational content.

How about actually summarizing some of these "issues"

Yep, it's really a drive by - a link and a long paragraph stating this is terrible.

Thus, the OP missed the responsibility of summarizing the problem or making a significant commentary on the specifics.

Thus, it's closed.
