River Boat pistol not firing
my aunt bought this river boat pistol its a black powder percussion cap and we've tried no. 11 and no. 10 caps on it and neither one would fire. there is no blockage or anything. the cap just wont go off when the hammer falls on it. i think its because of the spring not having enough pressure to push the hammer down on the cap with a decent amount of force. all that happens to the cap is it gets flattened and nothing more. Thanks for the help.

Are you getting the caps fully seated?

There are several
Places to go for spare parts for the pistol. VTI and Dixie Guun Woks are among them.
Might be a way to tighten the spring. Any way to post photos of the pistol? Can you take it apart? Tnx,

Seems to me if the caps are getting "flattened" something is amiss. Either not being seated or bad caps.

Good point, Hawg
Put one on a solid surface and hit it with a hammer.

caps are getting seated and nthe cps are good. i've even tried loosening the nipple to adjust the distance between teh nipple and hammer and then after 8 pulls it will fire after adjusting each time.
