Saw in ad once in "American Rifleman" for a side-mount scopemount for the SKS that you drill & tap to the side of the receiver.

I've looked at and have tried one or two of those that fit over or replace the cover, but they're lacking IMHO.

Any idea anyone??

Yes, I've found two. One is the B-Square Quick Detachable version. I don't know if they make it anymore. They've got that crappy one that replaces the receiver cover pin now. The other is by Choate. It's a fixed one, but you can still disassemble the gun with it mounted.

Click here and use the search pull-down to go to 'SKS scope mount.'
