This was 4 or 5 years ago, but I think I e-mailed her and offered to adopt her after I read one of her articles. I disremember what the article was about, but it was good. The reason it was good was because it was true. Truth is hard to swallow sometimes, especially if it rubs against your weak side.
I haven't been posting much on TFL since the reopening of the site, lurking now and then, but I've been thinking about subscribing to S.W.A.T. for quite some time. Can someone send me the particulars: cost, where to send $ ? Thanks

Grampster, if you go to the bottom of any page at TFL, you will see a copyright notice with the S.W.A.T. Magazine link.
Click on that, you will get all the info you need. |

RE: Claire's last column on the overuse or misuse of SWAT teams...I am sure she will generate a firestorm of disagreement (apparently, something not foreign to her), but there seems to be a large kernel of truth there. As I see it, if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. If all you want to do is use your tac team, everything looks like it requires a dynamic entry.
I'm not nor will I ever will be a SWAT operator. I have been on SWAT raids though, and for example, to watch the LA Sheriff's SEB work is a thing of real beauty. We need SWAT, but her stats and/or anecdotal evidence clearly reveals that many agencies want to use their "cool tool" in situations where a different solution may well be better suited. |
