Nice try, but "no dice."
(American slang for failing).
I tried the same thing years ago and the only result was catching the pillow on fire.
Shouldn't use foam or synthetic pillows.

Verrry interesting, to be sure.
The accuracy of your father's pellets is most impressive.
Maybe if a little more mass were added, the penetration would improve.
Like a small screw in the wood??
That might affect the accuracy though.
Could be fun to experiment with.
