From Colt...
Python (in Royal Blue of course)
SAA (duh)

from S&W...
29 (really, any pre-lock N frame)
17 (gotta have a .22 on the list)

from Ruger...
GP100 (it's a good looking tank)

My 642, the SP101, Redhawk, most K/L frames, Diamondback, my Anaconda, LCR, and numerous others all get honorable mentions...lol....I really like them all!

Tough call:

1) 3" 686
2) 4" 617
3) Super Blackhawk Hunter in 45 Colt
4) Single Six Hunter
5) 4.6" Flattop Blackhawk in 44 spl

I don't own all of these, but maybe someday. Lots of other high honorable mentions too.

Top five ever? If you take into account the historical significance of a particular gun, then I would list them like this:

1. Colt Patterson
2. Colt Walker
3. 1851 Navy
4. 1873 SAA
5. S&W 1899 Hand Ejector

If you just go by those guns that I like the best:

1. S&W Registered Magnum
2. Colt Python
3. S&W .44 Magnum
4. Any target sighted S&W K frame
5. Ruger Blackhawk

I guess I'm a bit egg scentric...

my favorite 5 of the ones I own... ( in no specific order )

S&W #1.5 spur trigger single action snubbie in 32 S&W, custom Gil Scotty ( 60's ) laminate grips, with nickel S&W medallions added

Custom Ruger Montado snubbie with checkered buffalo horn birdshead grips, in 45 Colt

S&W 610 with custom fiber optic sights, & chambered for 10mm magnum ( shoots 40 S&W, 10mm, & 10 mag, with moon clips ) this gun took S&W 3 times back to the factory to get it right, before I could start the 10 mag conversion, but after the 3rd time back to the factory, they finally got it very right, it now my favorite double action, & it has a lot of good competition, like the gun listed below, a Dan Wesson 357 Maximum, an early S&W 357 Mag, etc.

bottom gun in this pic...

#4 is also in the picture above... Taurus "raging hornet" converted to a switch barrel, using a 6" Dan Wesson barrel shroud, the barrel is a fast twist 1 in 9" twist, so she stabilizes up to 68 grain 223 bullets out of the 6" barrel, has a custom flash killer barrel nut, & camo laminate grips...

My five () favorites:

S&W Models 27/28
S&W Model 1955 Target
S&W Models K-22/K-38 Masterpiece Targets
S&W Model 19
Colt Models Officer Special/Target

If I could choose six, it would be the Colt Detective Special/Cobra/Agent D-frame revolvers.

And any reputable "best of the bunch" list should include Ruger's fine line of sa revolvers...
