I refuse to load up the last of my primers in any given size ( since I have so many different cases I could put them in ) so I guess I've got a new hobby... polishing & prepping all my cases for reloading... I've been going through all my brass, decapping, & wet tumbling everything to look like new...

while going through a mixed ammo can of loose 9mm cases, I noticed that the flash holes varried greatly in size, between brands, & some were really burred... ( this is much more noticeable when the inside of the case & the primer pockets are shiny ) while I normally deburr my rifle brass where I'm worried about accuracy, I've never deburred handgun ammo... but I'm thinking with all my reloading spare time, I might make my flash holes of uniform size, & deburr them...

got me thinking, about shooting autos that might be finicky about ammo, that either the larger or the smaller flash holes might provide better function... anyone ever expirimented with the size of the flash hole & the function of the gun within any given caliber ??? with these 9's, there is about 100% size difference between the smallest flash holes & the largest...

any reason I couldn't make them all the same size as the brand / lot with the biggest holes, to make my reloads more consistant ???

The new shell loaded with lead free primers have a very large flash hole.

I would separate those from the older brass that has regular sized flash holes.

And yes I'm polishing and going through my brass now, too cold to shoot outside. Going to warm up the shotshell presses soon, too many empty hulls and I've got some 7/8 oz. 12 wads to use.

OK... just to clairify ( I haven't bought any 9mm ammo since the 80's ) all of my empty 9mm cases are vintage 80's cases, so I doubt I have any lead free primer ammo cases in my lot, but thanks for the heads up...
