Tip for Removing Benelli Cocking Handle
Hi all.
I just got myself a new Benelli Montefeltro in 12ga. I have been very impressed with its design, and quality of manufacturing, particularly the beautiful checkering and machining. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I'm looking forward to it! Anyway, I wanted some tips on how to remove the cocking handle, so I checked some of the online boards, and found some suggestions about using pliers on it (?!!?!?). The very thought made me cringe, so I went in search of a better way, and thought I would post what I came up with to see if anyone out there agrees. To remove the cocking handle, all you need is a piece of strong string. I used a thin leather strap, but you can use anything. It's very simple. Wrap the string around the base of the cocking handle (the thin part), hold onto the loose ends of the string, and pull away from the bolt. That's it! I found it works really well for me. You can also tie the loose ends of the string together to make a large loop before wrapping it around the cocking handle (so you don't need to use any energy gripping the string). Anyway, let me know what you think, or if you have questions. Hope this helps! |

The local Benelli rep (nice guy; you know about the products) showed me that trick.
Could be you're on the right path, no? Steve

Maybe mine is different than most, but I've never had any problem just pulling it out with my fingers. Hey, maybe I'm just really strong!

Help me on this one.........
You mean the handle on the bolt carrier right? The cocking handle used to jack shells out when unloading right?
If this is the case, why on earth would you want to pull the cocking handle out?

Will, you need to remove the cocking handle in order to remove the bolt and bolt-carrier for cleaning.

I use a pair of pliers, with a piece of innertube between the jaws and the handle. I've tried unsucessfully to pull it out with my fingers.
bkm..

Do you Guys need an explaination ? We all take the sports section first - - - maybe not all .
Some Yellow Jackets may have been somewhat embarassed because it came to light that their beloved coach, who left them for 'greener' pastures ( actually blueer would be trueer) had upgraded his resume' - so to speak . GT alunmi are fiercely loyal to their school , so I was looking for a diversion. Hawkaaa53 |
