Not sure if I should post this question here or not, but here it goes.

What is your favorite gun rack style for your C&R rifles?

I am a woodworker by trade and need a new gun rack, so I'll build my own.

I like the old rifle crates myself. I just think they are neat.

Gun rack or gun display? I'm single so no worry about kiddos, I have everything in displays. I also do a little woodworking so there is a theme to most of my displays. 4 lever action winchesters, all my small caliber pumps, nickel plated Colts, S&W K series, Colt double actions, you get the idea. My favorite is a display of 6 semi autos that disappears using one of those lift kits that they use for flat screen TVs. Really cool.

cool idea jag, and nice colection, and yes M&P I like the old crates too.

I like the display idea, I have a safe room, and no kids in the house.

Is there a benefit to horizontal vs vertical for long term storage?

I've got my modern hunting gums in boxes at the moment and had not thought of a gun rack untill I started getting hooked on the wwII bolt guns. It started with the handmedown Carcano and now I will be getting an Enfield. I'll add to the collection later this summer cause I know I want the 6.5 swede before deer season.

so..do you like horizontal rack or vertical rack?

I never have gotten around to learning how to post pics, I'll see if I can PM some to you. Needless to say I'm proud of all of them but I'm not the best photographer so you have to use a little imagination.

Don't see how to add pic to PM so I'll try it here. These are most of my pumps. Concept is to look like the inside of an old barn or tack room. They usually had a 22 around for pest control. You'll have to use your imagination for correct color. If this doesn't work I'll read MWM's instructions.

Looks like that worked, I'll try another. These are my Winchesters, all 92s and all over 100 years old. For my frames I buy moulding from Home Depot or Lowes. I'll also add the 2 Colts, both 38 spcl. The backgrounds are always felt from a fabric store. This is getting me motivated to get the camera back out and try again.

Very nice jag! I think I want something similar. That way I can build one for what I currently have then one for my new collection, the extra empty spaces will give me an excuse to get the swedish mauser.

Of course, to keep the peace, I'll have to start the shoe closet for my wife soon after.

I have my milsurps on a the same type rack posted in the link above, the adjustable pegs allow for a lot of versatility... for example, I have a B Square sniper mount on my Garand, & used a pair of longer pegs for that rifle, as the mount puts the scope offset to the side, to allow the use of the spring clips...

once I get the inside of my safe room completed, I'll be adding engraved brass plates to my racks, to identify the gun & calibers

I started out putting my handguns on those racks, but modified to a new style... my Contenders & barrels will mount on a rack similar to the rifle racks, but will used a smaller plastic coated steel peg, that will fit in the pivot pin hole of the extra barrels, so my barreled actions & spare barrels will fit on the same rack

BTW... MRS "2nd" shoe "closet" is still under construction

Very nice collection FIRE... but looks like the AR was added as a 2nd thought... I don't take public pics of my milsurp collection, but I don't have a true EBR in the lot... mine all have wood stocks... just can't seem to warm up to them in the same way... though I'll admit, that now that they are all on the wall, I'm wishing I didn't trade off my old style AR years ago... to replace it today, would cost about twice what I sold my old one for...

right now I'm trying to come up with a bayonet for each, as I allowed wall space for the bayonet, & the couple I have mounted look pretty nice with blades attached...

I always liked the old wall units in any form that can be easily converted to hold guns. These most recent 3 cost me 150.00 at a moving sale and hold 30 long arms. I made the backrests and covered the backs with micro-fiber and added lights.

Thanx, Magnum. Mostly bolt guns, most of them being hunting rifles. All of them worth the 7 or 8 dollars spent to give them something to lean on.
