Is Mossberg taking a sabbatical
I’ve been on the hunt for a Mossberg 500 retrograde and all the gun shops are singing the same song that they haven’t seen a Mossberg in a very long time.

curious
Now that you mention it, neither have I,.......a new one anyhow. There is a shop here in AL that runs YouTube ads, they are advertising "Shockwaves" in stock, but I have not seen a sporting or tac/SD Mossberg in a while.....

I'd like to know the same thing!
I was able to find a Maverick 88 at Academy a few months ago and the price was very good. I bought a 20ga for my son thinking it would be no problem finding a slug barrel for deer season. Boy was I wrong! The only ones I can find are on ebay, etc and they want more for the barrell than I paid for the whole damn gun |

discovered
I've got to adjust my previous comment. Wandered into a shop yesterday on the way home after some late Christmas shopping.
They had 3 Mossbergs on the wall, .. a Mav 88 -18", a plain jane sporting 500, and a camo stocked what appeared to be an 835, all new. First I've seen in a while. |

I've seen quite a few 500s, mostly synthetic 12 gauge 18" and the shops in and around Jacksonville and Wilmington NC.

If anyone spots a retrograde (wooden stock 500 model) with an 18.5 barrel, please let me know and provide a store and phone number. Thank you much appreciate it and merry Christmas.

Just an observation, but I can't remember the last time I saw any USA made pump shotgun on a shelf. All the local stores I go in have shelves full of the Turkish made shotguns. That goes for Cabelas and Academy as well. I saw some Winchester 1300's a while ago, but they are imported now too.
And the prices on the Turkey made guns are dirt cheap. I'm just wondering if Mossberg and Remington have given up on trying to compete with that price point.

I’ll gladly pay extra for the American made Mossberg. Also, I heard it’s a nightmare getting replacement parts from turkey for the Winchester shotguns. |

I bought a Mossberg 935 a few years ago and it was like pulling teeth to find one. Cabelas didn't seem to even carry the line. Gander Outdoors had some but now they don't exist. and Mills Fleet Farm had all the models but the 935. I ended up placing an order on the Dunhams Sports extra website and got it for a great price in the camo I wanted shipped to my local store 1 mile away.
I'm sure they're out there you just have to look. Google might also help.

Blindstich Thank you for the leads! I chose the first one which was a gun shop out of Texas as they had a great price and great online review.
Merry Christmas everyone! |

Maybe I spoke too soon… Looks like the credit card wasn’t processed and they would like me to use PayPal or send directly some other way which is a red flag. I did notice they had an exceptional price on the shotgun so maybe it was too good to be true.

I predict that Wingmasters, Model 37s and wood stocked model 500s are going to be collectibles like Sterlingworth, LC Smith and LeFevers in the future.
The classic American pump shotgun… Things of beauty.

Oh yeah that's a red flag. One of the joys of the internet. And paypal doesn't like guns anyway.

I saw a .410 shockwave in a store last week, so they must be putting some items out.

This place is local to me and they get them in pretty routinely, looks like only a handful of Mossbergs in stock right now and I don't know if they ship. Just like going fishing and you should have been there yesterday..... last month they had full racks of 500s. |

I don't know if they'll ship but Danny's Pawn and Sports in Hampstead NC has what looks like a 500 with an 8 round tube, tan furniture, unused in stock.

I was checking out the forums Monday AM. I’m glad I hadn’t coffee in my mouth when in the WTS adds there is a “ Vintage “ Moss 500 with extra barrels and some accessories. The kicker was the proud owner had the tidy sale price of $900 plus shipping on it. It’s still there although I can’t imagine why.
