There's too many purty guns and not enough guns that have seen some rough time in the field, so I respectfully submit my used and abused older than I am Western Field 16 guage.

I was just presented with this russian shotgun made 30 years ago (USSR!). Any Ideas what gun this is and what it's good for (double-trigger?!)? "taralon" thinks it might be a USSR ancester of the Baikal Model 27. Any other ideas or a confirmation?

Firstfreedom,....Shotguns are sort of like cars, each has it's own purpose and function. No reason to take the Bentley to Home Depot for a load of lumber when a pickup truck is needed.

The Liege does get out during Pheasant season, the Broadway Trap just sees the trap range....but for inclimate weather a Benelli seems more appropriate.

Sometime around the troubles in Vietnam, the US Marine Corps bought a batch of Remington 870's with a beefy front end assembly. They were called the "870 Mk1" model. The first combat use of the Model 870 Mark I is reputed to be in the Mayaguez incident, May 1975, when the American ship was boarded and captured by Khmer Rouge troops off Cambodia. According to Bruce Canfield's book on Combat Shotguns (p155), "The Mark I was a key weapon employed by the Marine boarding party which retook the ship and the subsequent operations against the Cambodians on a nearby island."
