Shotgun guys- 3 or 3.5 inch guns?
Im considering a supernova tactical for a "bear safety" gun and figured you competitive folks would know the best.
Should I go for a shotgun that I love less that is 3 only or... get the benelli supernova that I like that is 3.5. Do you worry about the extra pull length as far as short stroking under pressure? Like in a match or...if theres a bear chewing on your leg. Opinions appreciated! |

I run a Benelli Nova. Short Stroking a pump is always a concern. My gun has the action bars modified by a friend who calls his small outfit Red Neck Tactical. You can find him here or on facebook under Red Neck Tactical.
http://www.traprltd.com/ The action bars allow the shell in the magazine tube to release after stroking the gun only 2 3/4" which is the length of the shells we shoot in competition. You can still short stroke the gun but it requires less of a stroke to keep the gun running. Its a really an ingenious deal. He is working on making a complete replacement set of bars that only allows the gun to stroke 2 3/4" of an inch which will make the action shorter and faster. Here is a picture of my competition Nova. http://gunzoo.com/vault/JesseTischauser/847
