And the SD deer.....
And while we were on the Pheasant hunt the darn deer were in full rut up there. Saw 3 of them chasing does. One was actually out in a field with about 8 does and he was grunting and chasing them, looking for all the world like a small elk.
Just about made us crazy looking at all the big bucks on the property. Must have seen a dozen or more. Had a couple bust out so close that if we'd of been hunting with buckshot here in FL it would have been easy pickin's. The pictures are from a tree line we were walking for pheasants. The line was about a half mile long and no more than 30 yards wide at it's widest. It was planted along the top edge of a field and then down one side. As we worked along it for pheasants I would guess there were easy over a HUNDRED trees rubbed and a couple of dozen scrapes. We pushed a few does out of it and 2 nice bucks along with a bunch of pheasants and a couple of grouse. Darn deer up there are BIG! Mix of whitetaile and mule......... Getting a license is hard I gather. Based on what we saw on the roads they kill most of them with cars........ |
