45 ACP vs 10mm

I not long ago bought a 10mm and bought my brother a .45 ACP. We've done multiple side by side tests on objects to see which is the "better" caliber. Obviously the 10mm penetrates deeper but the .45 creates a larger diameter wound channel. Which is the better cartridge for two legged predators? The reason I bought a 10mm is because I have a very large bear problem where I live but also I wanted a very effective HD gun. Thoughts?

Either caliber will leave a two legged predator wishing they had stayed at home.

They're both great calibers. You can't go wrong with either. I personally prefer a 10mm though it costs a little more to feed.

try shooting both without hearing protection as you might during defense situation. 10mm is pretty loud.

Hard cast 10mm 200 gr will do better against a bear vs a standard 45 ACP.

The 45 super effectively levels the playing field, if you have a 45acp platform that can handle it. Both the 45acp and 10mm are excellent but if you're in grizzly country with a handgun, I'd suggest a .454 at minumum.

On paper I think the 10mm wins out.
On it's way through a person I doubt the recipient is going to notice a difference.

My own preference is for .45 as I tend to be able to get a follow up shot off faster. But 10mm is far better against bears, so for a duel purpose gun I'd say you made the right choice.

I prefer 10mm, but as someone else noted, it is loud.

Carried them both, competed IPSC with both. There are some mighty powerful 45acp +P rounds that might be a real world equalizer between the two calibers. I have tested the Gold Dot 200jhp +P and it is mighty impressive. I dont think you can go wrong with either.
