Is Anyone In Your Area Currently Shooting At All?

I live in a subdivision 35 miles out of a major metropolitan area where the smallest acreage is 5 acres and up to 20 acres. Many of our back fences face a large 10,000 acre ranch so a lot of us have a practice area on our own property and just about all the families here are pro-protection. On any given weekend or holiday practicing goes on non stop. Due to the recent happenings in Conn. and the panic buying of supplies I have not heard one single shot fired in over 8 days. Has anyone been to a shooting range this last week and was anyone there? Are we being too quiet at this point?

I plan on shooting this weekend. It will probably be lighter than usual to conserve ammo. I am not an ammo hoarder so I got caught with my pants down again.

The ranges around my area are just as busy as ever. Was doing some shopping the other day and there was over an hour wait time for a shooting lane.

Im lucky enough to have access to private land and plenty of ammo. My training won't suffer.

With all them people buying guns, I'm sure they can't wait to shoot them. It's like looking at your new toy in a locked glass box and you can't touch it.

Also with the increase in CCW permits due to all these mass shootings, I'm sure the range would be pack as well.

Was at an indoor range yesterday and it was packed. One family - man, woman, and two boys about 7 and 11 - came in and they were all shooting. The parents were guiding the young men as they shot at the targets with .22 semi autos. They looked to be having a good, and safe, time.

The only inhibiting factor here, has been the weather. Too cold and too much snow for comfort. We'll be getting back out there within the week.

Pretty cold and snowy this weekend, so I didn't go... the outdoor range gets rather quiet this time of year, only a few of us tough enough to go in the winter

Three inches of snow on the ground, . . . 5 to 8 mph wind, . . . something in the middle 30's for temp.

Range down the road from me was litterally "booming" all afternoon.

I heard on guy/gal do a full 30 round mag, . . . sounded like .223, . . . and it was less than 10 seconds.

Yep, . . . they're still shooting in Ohio.

May God bless,
Dwight

Not shooting centerfire until the prices/availability calm down.

I'm about to become Mr 22LR.

We have slush in the pasture, so I went shooting at the LGS yesterday. 8 of 10 lanes were occupied.

Personally I haven't been shooting due to ammo shortage and being busy.

But my neighbor a few houses down has shot just about every day for the past few days.

I am in a pretty rural area so no lack of outdoor public ranges, we shoot almost every weekend. have slowed down a little on the ak ammo abuse, but the 22's 45's and nines still get plenty of use

I live about a mile from the Natl Forest out here in Colorado.....I just got back from shooting about 280 rounds today, took me just over an hour.

35 rounds of 9mm, Ruger SR9-C
30 rounds of SKS 7.62x39
15 rounds of 22 magnum, Marlin bolt action
200 rounds of 22 LR, Ruger 10/22 and a 22/45

It was fun!

We got a snowstorm moving in here tonight, so today was my window.

I reload 9mm, .223, .308 and 40S&W, so I can keep my centerfires well fed.

Shot with friends here at my home yesterday, and introduced one female to her two new handguns and some tactics. 50 rounds of 45 150 rds of 380 200 rds of 9mm. Taurus 45, two ruger 380s two ruger sr9c s. Also fired off 17 rounds of 22 lr so could put in fresh rounds.

Plan on shooting again Saturday with the same group. Gotta load up on some more 45 ammo though LOL.

The only reason I'm not shooting is the 10" of snow covering the range.

Spring's comin'!

The sounds of shooting are still as constant and regular as distant train whistles in my corner of the world. And just as comforting.

My sons and I just finished cleaning up from a range trip. Best Christmas Eve ever. Plenty of others out there. It's a relatively new range, my first trip, so not sure how busy it usually is. Of course, it's common for people to be out of town traveling right now.

My neighborhood in NH is quite normal. In fact I was shooting my new mosin nagant yesterday in my backyard range, which got the neighbors shooting their rifles. Sounded like a war zone for a little bit haha.

Not many of the folks near me go to an official range, it's all shooting on private land/farms. As it's been for the past few years at least, someone is out there shooting every day at some point. Sometimes it's from that way, sometimes it's from over there, but guns are being shot.

Yesterday a little ways up the road someone had their kid out with a .22 nailing cans, don't think they could've been 30 yards off the road and in plain view. Granted we're not in the city here. Don't know what it is, but every once in a while I swear there's a cannon going off.
