Custom Rare Barrel Manufacturing

Are there any barrel manufacturers that can take an existing, out of production barrel assembly, scan it, and reproduce the entire barrel assembly? Anyone know of such a manufacturer?

Is this even possible to do? I would guess it’s possible with modern scanning and CNC computer controlled tech.

I’m looking to make a back up barrel assembly for my 93r. It’s out of production, unfortunately.

I’ve called at least half a dozen barrel makers. No luck so far. A few have referred me to someone who they think can do it, but no luck.

I would appreciate any leads.

Hakan Spuhr does wild and wonderful things to Lugers as a sideline to making exotic scope mounts. He COULD make a Beretta barrel, but I don't know if he WOULD.
This is what I call a Level 3 project, physically possible, but finding somebody willing to bother with it is the trick.

Rather than freak out people who don't know what you're talking about, try just looking for a Beretta 92 barrel that's extended to 7" and ported. From what I can tell, they should be otherwise totally compatible.

Hard to tell what the OP means. Savage makes a 93R rimfire rifle but it’s still in production. Beretta made a 93R machine pistol.

Edit: I see now that Nimrod already mentioned the Beretta. But it's too late to delete my post...

So, I guess I'll mention that I spent about three years trying to find a company still making 0.298" to 0.300" groove diameter blanks. Several *claimed* that they could do such, until I called and tried to place an order. Then it turned to, "Oh, we don't do that one any more. Sorry."
In the end, I had to obtain a good condition surplus barrel from an Italian M91/38 Carcano in 7.35x51mm, to use as the base for the project.

How different is a 93r barrel? Could a 92 barrel be modified?

Yes, I meant a Beretta 93R.

No, the barrel of a 92 is different and can’t be used in a 93.

I’ve experienced the same ‘oh I can do it’, and then three months later, ‘sorry I couldn’t do it’.

I figure one day the tech and machinery will be advanced enough that it’ll be easy to replicate. The goal is to make a compete upper assembly one day.

You might contact Beretta to see if they will at least share the blueprint of the barrel. That could be drawn and then a CNC machine programmed to make the drawing. A blank of the right steel will be needed, but could probably be bought from one of the custom barrel makers. The CNC machine won't likely be able to make the rifling, but someone with a cut rifling machine or who does EDM rifling might be contracted to do it. It's going to be a good bit of bother and expense and a number of ducks need to be put in a row.

Rifling is not a problem. Just start with a large diameter barrel blank and keep on milling.
