Need local source for BP supplies in Tampa, Florida
Can't seem to find a supplier for Black Powder or percussion caps (nr 11) in the Tampa, Florida area. Hate to spend an addition $20.00 for HAZMAT and $9.00 S/H for a $3.50 purchase of percussion caps.
Anyone in this area have sources? Thanks |

Well, I can't help if all you want to by is 1 pound of BP or one tin of caps, but...
www.Grafs.com, even with hazmat, the per pound price is cheaper than anyone sells it for. You have to buy 10 pounds though. Walmart sells percussion caps around here, Remington #11's. Otherwise, I've ordered them from Cabelas at time when they have the " save $20 off an order of $150 or more" that covers the hazmat and you're set on caps for a long time! |

While I am aware of several on-line companies, as this is a new experience for me (black powder) and I have not used it before, I do not want to spend an 'arm and a leg' to find out if I like BP or not.
I have about 1/2 LB of FFFG, the pre lubed wads, Hornady .451 lead balls, and 9 #11 percussion caps (CCI). Before I commit to a large purchase of BP items, I want to make sure that I will use the stuff if I buy it. What I need is about 25 more percussion caps (or 100 if I can find a local dist) before I fully take the plunge. It sure would be nice if I could find a BP store in the Tampa/St Petersburg/Brandon/Lakeland area. Thanks for the information though. |

If you don't mind driving 90 miles or so there's a Gander Mountain in Lake Mary. They may not have real bp but they'll have Pyrodex and 777 and caps.

I didn't mean a 10 pound minimum order on BP. I was saying that for the per pound price to be cheaper than local retailers, you need to get 10+ pounds. It ends up at $14.30 per pound at a 10 pound purchase. That's cheaper than what I used to pay at the places that used to carry it.

"Used to" is the operative word. Three pounds of Goex at my local retailer cost me $50.72 and change including 6% sales tax (and not including 90 miles of gas) two months ago, which is $9 less than the Graf's deal. Five pounds would have made Graf's cheaper.
$15.95/lb local retail, plus 6% sales tax is $$16.91, or $84.53 for five pounds. Graf's price for five pounds is $11.99/lb X 5 = $59.95. They pay shipping but you have to add $3.95 for insurance and $20 for the hazmat fee for a total of $83.90, essentially break even with the local retailer if you don't consider gas to go get it. |

Thanks for the information.
Looks like Dace City is the closest. Will have to visit them to see what they have. MC/HNY |
