amen...........this is the most accurate reply to your question.

it doesnt matter what bullet is the most "potent" or who is carrying what.

practice shooting different types of bullets (wadcutters, semi wads, hollow points, etc.) and different bullet weights. the ammo that YOU are most comfortable and accurate with, IS the right one for you.

While many good choices abound, it comes down to the one that YOU can handle and shoot effectively - IMO, try several brands and see what works best in your gun

Barndog -- We still have not heard from you as to what is imprinted on the barrel of your revolver. There is lots of advice above, much of which I agree with for the .38 special cartridge (.38sp CTG). But if your weapon is made for the .38 S&W cartridge (.38S&W CTG -- I think I got that right), most of the above (except the guy who said, "I haven't a clue") does not apply.

Agree with the shoot them to find what works best.

My wife and I prefer Corbon DPX and Speer Gold Dot HP short barrel in 138 grain or under for alloy j-frames.
