Everyone I talk to whether it be online sales or local says "if you see 'em, buy 'em'.

I would not be stocking up at $30 per 1K which is what some of the folks have been reporting for prices.

You can get primers in 5k and 10k lots.

I say stock up on some of each type you use.

Federal have been very hard to come by locally. CCI has been great. I would use Magtech and Wolf as well. Some of the long distance shooters are using Russian primers and love them.

I wanted to get some Remington, but they are hard to find locally as well.

Winchester isn't too bad. I've only used their WLP.

My local Primer Situation: Location Lubbock TX

My local reloading supplier has always had primers in stock, the down side is that the primers have always cost $32.50 per thousand. I have asked for a discount if I buy 5000 at a time but the owner said he would not sell me 5000 to ensure that his other customer have primers. I have been wanting to buy primers online, but cannot find someone that has large and small primers in stock at the same time, to avoid paying two hazmat charges. Powder is the same thing, I am a loyal AA#5 fan, but have not been able to find it in 8 pound lots for 4 months now. When I have contacted the manufactures asking about availability I always get the same answer, blame the hoarders, Barak Obama is the salesman of the year for anything related to the firearms industry. I had always thought that the people hording powder and primers were crazies, but i now with all the deficit spending the democrats will have to tax anything and everything to keep the revenue flowing in, so most likely ammunition or components will be a source of future revenue.

Can't find any Small Pistol Primers in southern WI.
I prefer Winchester, but can't even find any CCI around here, OR online vendors seem to be out of stock as well.
Wish your "small shop" was close enough, I'd load up as I hear the shortage won't get better any time soon.
