Colt Detective Special - Customizing Trigger Job

I have a Colt Python .357 and a Colt Detective Special .38. About 8 years ago I sent my Python to a recognized Colt customizer in Texas. I think it was Austin area. If I recall correctly it was Guns and Ammo that recognized him as a great one to work with the Colts.

I want to send my Detective Special to him to get a trigger job.

Does anyone know who I might be referring to? Anyone have the contact name and address or e-mail address?

If not, does anyone else have a recommended name to customizing Colts?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure that this information is current, but Reeves is simply the best Colt DA revolver smith.

Bob,

That is the man! Thanks for responding so quickly.

I just got off the phone with Reeves and he says he is "trying" to retire but he will work on Pythons. He says there really isn't much to customize on the Detective Special.

I sure love the work that he did on my python, super smooth.

A friend of mine had one done by the Colt Custom Shop. There was PLENTY to customize on that little gun, Reeves just didn't want to fool with it. Hers came out just great, with a smooth light DA you just don't see on a J-Smith. That was about 15 years ago and I don't know if they are still doing that caliber of work but you might as well ask.

Glad you asked that question - - -
I'd lost the phone number.
