Mossberg Furniture Question ???

Not sure where to park this question but hopefully the "Smithing" guys will see it. Trying to help a neighhbor on some stock work on an older Mossberg pump shotgun. He is trying to match a newer forend to the buttstock. Nothing fancy and no checkering. It is a light colored hardwood and looks like plain old Birch to me. Typically, what type of wood did Mossberg provide on their old pump shotguns. I thank you for your attention and as always, value your input.
