You'll never see enough support to get that law repealed.
Even most gun owners are afraid of others owning "machine guns". At best you may see suppressors taken off the list of NFA weapons

It's mostly because if how it works. You sign it then need to verify through email in a certain time frame. Most don't verify.

I'd just like to see a repeal of the Hughes Amendment. The problem is that if it is repealed, people who paid tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars for machine guns won't be happy. My AC556 would go from being valued at $11,000 to $1,000 overnight. Now, I would gladly make that sacrifice for the repeal of the Hughes Amendment, but others may not.

I'm all for removing suppressors, short barrel rifles and shotguns, firearms with a bore over .50 caliber, and some AOW's from the NFA, but other things that are on there are "Common sense" gun reforms.
I think there's a possibility to get short barrel long guns off the list because you look at gun restrictive countries like the UK and Canada and they allow their people to own sawed off shotguns. Suppressors seem to be on their way off the list anyway, so a total repeal of the NFA is not necessary. If the anti's are willing to take baby steps to repealing the 2nd Amendment, then we have to be satisfied taking baby steps on the NFA. |
