Poly/Moly Coated Bullets
I have loaded and fired about 2000 lead bullets this year and am happy with the results (less expensive than FMJ, good accuracy); but one issue that I have had is that there is definitely much more smoke. This becomes a greater problem at indoor ranges. To correct this I bought 1000 Poly/Moly coated "Black" bullets. These are working fine with equivalent loads and produce much less smoke. The smoke issue apparently was coming form the wax ring found on conventional lead bullets.
In reading the different forums I heave seen complaints about poly/Moly coated bullets causing some problems with guns (buildups and deposits in barrels). To date I have note seen any evidence of this problem, but I have only fired about 200 poly/moly rounds in my 9mm Springfield XDm. Do any of you have experience with the poly/moly bullets that you might want to share? As far as buildups, I always clean my pistols after each use (just my analness). I never seem to have many problems with any of my equipment. |
