h&r 20 gauge single shot forearm question
I have an older h&r 20 gauge where the forearm attaches to a notched post and a spring and pistol is screwed into the forearm and the the spring forces the piston into the notch on the post and that holds the forearm on. That makes it nice for taking the gun apart but not so nice when the forearm comes off while shooting sometimes. I took the spring piston apart and stretched the spring some and that helped keep the fore from coming off so often. But I'm thinking I should remove the post and replace it with a insert I can run a small screw into and then attach the forearm with a screw like the newer models.
What sort of solder and heat is needed to remove the soldered post and solder on an insert. Is that a do it myself type of project? Thanks |

.
I would suggest instead that you file a different angle onto the business end of the plunger, so it gets a better bite on the stud recess & won't cam off during recoil. . |
