Im hearing they are susceptible to chambering problems-esp earlier ones like 625-3 and earlier. Anybody got any input?

Yes, the early models (1988 and 1989) seemed to have very tight chamber dimensions. I have a 1988 (625-2) and it would only make it through about 25 rounds before it became difficult to load the next moonclip into the gun. There was absolutely no room for fouling to accumulate. 2 minutes with a finishing reamer fixed that. They are incredibly accurate guns. They also have some of the best accurte barrels S&W has ever produced. I still have a target fired in 1990 from a Ransom Rest that shows 6 rounds in one hole from 17 yards. No one at the range could believe it. If you find an early model with tight chambers any good pistolsmith can ream the chambers for you. It only takes a little tiny bit and only removes a very small amount of steel.

Before I became disabled and put my guns away, I shot a four inch Modle of
625. I think that it was a model of 89. It had gold laser etching of the year on its barrel. Anyway it was one of the first runs produced. It is extreamly accurate and I could shoot the X ring out of a 25 yard pistol target at tweny-five yards.

Dunno about others but my early 625, 3 inch, is PERFECT!

Eats .45 supers and just drops the empties out. Shoots great to.

No problems with my 625JM. It loads easy with moon clips.

I have a 3" 625-3 that I have never had an issue with. Shoots great, no chambering issues at all.

No issues with my 5" 625-3. It now wears Hogue rubber grips.
