Putting a scope on .410 single shot???

I know alot of you would ask why would you...? But my 7 year old is dead set on putting a scope on his H&R Single shot .410. Any ideas? Dont really want to have to drill and tap.

I would talk him out of it by buying him a 22 rifle with a scope on it.

Barrel clamp a scout scope system.

Worked well for a 12 year old wanting to shoot slugs at coyotes at about 50 yards!

I would think in any state it would be leagal for a 7 year old to hunt what ever he wants.
As long as he passed a hunter saftey course of some sort & is accompanied by an adult.
I'm all for teaching kids to hunt.
Now with that being said, I'm not a fan of using a 410 for deer hunting. I know a lot of deer have been taking with them but its just not a good choice. I don't know for sure but I think the slug weighs one fifth of an once? (87,88 grains)
Get him a 20ga. I believe they make low recoil slugs for it.
H&R might make a 20ga. Slug gun you could get cheap.

would you rather have him setting around playing video games???If it helps him stay interested in being outside and not laying around the house Im all for it. If you dont have any suggestions on mounting a scope, keep your other opinions to yourself thanks.

Sorry if I offended you. If your serious about mounting a scope on that gun I see no other way but to drill & tap

Maybe allow him to purchase one, after he does some work or chores to earn it and you guys could install it together. I don't have a recommendation on a scope other than to get him a low powered (3x or 4x) fixed magnification scope for cheap.

go ahead and have it drilled and taped , it dont cost that much and you will have a more solid mount.
