Musketoon Rear Sight

I just put a new rear sight on mu Euroarms 1861 Enfield "Musketoon".
This sight came off a Martini Cadet rifle which were a English rifle made
from 1917-1950 I think. This sight is adjustable to 900 yds. I did grind off
the "Ears". I was able to use the old screw. Fit perfect.

Hey - that looks like it worked out great! Have you had a chance to shoot it since you put it on? I've looked at these musketoons over the years and always thought they were interesting - I've shot a lot of different military models - Enfield 2 & 3 band, '55, '61 and '63 models as well as Missiissippi and Zouave - love all those .58 calibers! These shorter barreled musketoons look like they would just be a lot of fun. Could you give us a little run down on how you like it, what slug you're shooting, ranges, etc. and things you like/dislike about it? Would love to hear about it! Thanks!

Yeah, let us know how it hits with the different sight. My 'Toon has had a taller front sight added otherwise it shot too high for hunting. It is a great brush gun too. Here's what mine got for me a couple years ago. Off hand @ 50yds 577611 (530gr minie) over 90grs FFg. Now, i do take it easy on my self and put a shotgun slip on recoil pad and when working up a heavy load like that I put a sand bag between my shoulder and the gun butt.
