My P64 broke

I have two Radom P-64s, and the safety catch stopped working on one of them. I noticed the dreaded broken hammer catch, that is keeping me from moving the safety, but the gun still fires. It broke while the safety was off, but it's still keeping the firing pin contained so the gun will still fire. I'm sure it won't last much longer, and the safety/hammer catch has historically been a hard item to find. Anyone have leads on replacements?

If I remember right, one of the big P-64 importers (maybe Tennessee Gun) used to have bunches of guns that weren't good enough to sell whole so they kept them for parts. However, I seem to recall Tennessee Gun getting shut down so I don't know what happened to all those spare parts. Maybe someone else bought them up.

I don't have a P-64 anymore, but this site used to keep a good supply of parts.

Yeah I'm a frequent visitor of robertrtg.com. They have some parts but not the hammer catch. Might have to find a source in Poland.

Share Info

I am a P64 owner also so if you would share information on where you are getting your parts from it would be appreciated.

Second that, safeties are usually tough to come by. Like to pick up a trigger bar.

It's an ebay auction with multiple safeties for sale. Fellow in Poland posts parts on eBay now and then.

There are plenty of them made, they're just all in Poland... ... It's probably against ebay policy, but I think I'll message the seller and see if I can get bulk parts cheaper, and he'll avoid ebay and paypal fees...

The new (to me) safety catch came in today. After a couple hours of trying and cursing, it finally all went back together. If you ever have to do this, find a big cardboard box to sit in. I launched the firing pin and spring a couple times, and the safety plunger/detent several times also. I thought I hopelessly lost the detent once, but found it. To add to the fun, the little lock for the loaded chamber indicator pin fell out, and it was a bear to get back in too. Would have helped if I had a third hand. I think the next guns I get rid of will be my P64s.

hah, I hear you putting back in the safety has to be one of the hardest thing to do without colorful language. I've done it a few times but never seems to get any easier.

Reviving an old thread, hammer catch / safety / decockers now at RTG

robertrtg.com has the decocker/safety now. Not sure how long they'll have them, but they are only $20. If you have a P-64, you would be wise to buy one of these as a spare. It's the most broken part in a P-64. They have the safety plungers too, and they are easy to lose when replacing a safety/decocker, so it would be smart to get one of them as well (they're cheap).

A safety and a trigger bar are nice to have if you shoot your pistol. Those two parts are not common, and a cheap couple of parts to get just in case. I ordered one each the other week, both came in and look brand new.

Nodak1858 did you also order from RTG, or do you have another source?

RTG, I check out their site pretty regularly. I get a lot of my Tokorev parts from them as well. I did pick up one safety years ago, some guy made a batch in a machine shop. They had a bit different profile on the lever portion, but the internal side looked the same, it functioned well. I have a number of P64s, just got another one from Centerfire Systems the other week. Figure if I'm going to shoot and carry them I should have some spare parts.

I don't have a P64 any longer but I found some trigger guard pins in case some one is in need.
