Large ring Mauser sporter barrel
I've got two large ring Mauser sporter profile barrels. They are marked as being .270 caliber. The breech faces are marked "R" with some other squiggly mark on it.
Anyone have any ideas on who the original barrel maker was? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

From the shoulder flange, I suspect this barrel originally had a military contour of stepped cylindrical sections and was just recontoured to erase the steps and lighten the barrel. I can make neither heads nor tails of the markings other than to guess the person doing the contouring added them for reasona internal to his shop.
