IMR 8208 XBR to load .223 for my Weatherby Vanguard S2. I've been extremely pleased with the results.

1977. IMR3031, 1895 Chileano Mauser 7x57[sporterized], 139gr Hornady.
Switched to H4350. Better results.Still in use by a buddy of mine in Idaho.

I used H4895 in a 30/30 lever gun, I can remember the powder but can't remember if it was a Marlin or a Winchester rifle. The lever rifle was my first rifle and later added a push feed Winchester model 70 ( 30/06) as my 2nd and used H4895 in it also. I still use H4895 in several calibers I.E. 30/30 - 22/250 - 30/06 - 307 Winchester, very versatile.. William

Got my first press in 1977. Was using Unique for my only centerfire firearm, a Colt Peacemaker in 45 Colt. That was a long time ago and had a lot of fun.

First powder was Win231, loading for 38spl, for my S&W 27-2. Used H110 for 357mag. Have since went strictly to Alliant products, Bullseye for autos, 2400 for magnum.

Green Dot in a light 357 load with a 125 cast FP for my Handi rifle about 25 years ago. Chose Green Dot because the powder bushing charts showed it was a bulky powder, thought that would work well in a light load, it did.

Like Pete2, I too bought some surplus military powder to reload with back in the around 1967.....wonder if he bought it at Glen Slades in Houston. I also think it was probably 4831.

Chuckle, I can remember asking the sales clerk in Slades for load data for the powder. His response was to tell me, "just fill up a cartridge case to where you think the bottom of bullet will be and you'll be OK." "I've used the stuff in several cartridges and that's what I do with it.....works good for me."

Promo, Herco and Green Dot, bought at about the same time 20-ish years ago.

I used the Herco and Promo for .45 Colt, and the Green Dot for 9mm and later .38 Special. Next I got a can of 2400 for loading .30 Carbine.

I started late, back in 2012 and my first powder purchase was an 8lb keg of Win 748. It was the salesmans' advice on me loading both heavy 223 and light 308. Love W748 , versatile and meters SO easy and consistent. Got about 26 lbs stocked as of now.

IMR 4350
An 1894 Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55.
We used lee scoops, hornady bullets, norma and Yugo brass, a single stage Lee C press, an old Lee improved priming tool with single primer feeding, and a vernier caliper. I think I was about 12 or so.
I still load with my dad often.

My first powder was Johnsons! (Johnsons Baby Powder) I'll bet it was the first powder for most of the people on this site! Didn't think of that?

You know I am right! When I got old enough to reload revolvers, it was UNIQUE. Maybe one of the most versatile powders ever made.(other than Johnsons)

First powders were Hercules Unique for a Dam Wesson 357 and IMR 4350 for an Arisaka 7.7 mm.

I believe my first pistol powder was Bullseye for 38's and 2400 for 357mag and my first rifle powder was either IMR 4895 or IMR 3031
