Marlin 336 magazine spring and tube follower
Hello,
I've had a Marlin 336C since 1975. It's been flawless until one hiccup. The lever was "stuck closed". The rifle was loaded with one in the chamber. To empty the weapon, I unscrewed the magazine cap and removed the spring. This allowed the emptying of the rifle. Took it apart, cleaned and oiled it good and ran into this problem; I can not get the magazine tube follower out. From where the cap screws on until I can see the end of the magazine tube follower is about 3 inches. I have 3 feet of spring that won't compress that small. So, how can I get the magazine spring back in the magazine tube? I've never taken this apart prior to having to empty the gun. Everything else about the reassembly went smooth. But again, the magazine tube follower is stuck. Sorry to be so long but I wanted to be explicit on the problem. I sure hope someone here can please help. Much thanks!

Pull the magazine tube and get the follower out. (This requires removing barrel bands and fore-stock, if barrel-band style; or removed the tip cap and fore-stock, if tip-cap style.)
Once the tube is off, you can punch the follower through with a dowel or cleaning rod. Clean the tube and follower. Strip and clean the receiver and internals while you're at it.

FrankenMauser, thank you so much for your input and advice! I'll get to that a little later today.
So much appreciated!

FranlenMauser,
It worked and it was so easy! I can't believe I didn't see that myself! You are a Super-Genius! Thank you so much for taking the time to help me! The rifle looks and functions like new!

Good to hear.
Drive it like you stole it. (But maintain as needed.)
