Fn fal gas piston
I purchased a replacement gas piston for my FAL and it was shipped without the hardened tip that screws into the end of the piston that strikes the bolt carrier.
The replacement part is on the left, the current one is on the right. Is this an error or is the tip a separate part? Do I need to swap the tip from the old piston to the replacement? |

The threaded gas piston is from the Austrian STG58.
It was made this way to hold a brush for cleaning the gas tube. If it is straight and not undersized it should work fine. Cheers, p_r

Thank you.
Is the closed end gas piston original to an FAL? |

Unless there are manufacturer markings that would be a tough call.

The solid tipped one has an M2 written in electric pencil on the shaft at the gas port end.
