Ballester Molina misfeed correction questions

Greetings:

I have an arsenal refinished Ballester Molina .45 from SOG that I just received. In cycling dummy ammo through the action, a number of rounds slammed into the feed ramp, and the bullets were pushed into their cases. What would be a logical course of action to fix this problem?

For instance:

1. Should I get some different mags?

2. Should I also polish the feed ramp?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I want to make it work, not send it back.

You've made a mistake,but at least not a costly one. Start with some good-quality mags.If that doesn't do it,the "Dremel Effect" is required.

What sort of dummy ammo?
How about actually firing it with live ammo? Shooting cycles the gun differently from manual operation.
If necessary, regular 1911 magazines are supposed to work; barrels and magazines were specified to be interchangeable with the Systema guns.

It was dummy ammo from Brownell's. Metal case - real, full weight bullet, but no primer nor powder. I use dummies for gun handling practice, speedloading, loading in the dark, etc.. When I get new guns, I check to see how things work. The only firearms that get loaded in my house with functional ammo are self- defense guns.

I realize that firing cycles the gun differently than manually racking, but the gun needs to operate better. The rounds should not have nosedived square into the feedramp. I'll look into some 7 round Wilson mags to start. That'll probably help.

Nobody is suggesting you load and fire the gun in the house.

Take the gun to the range and shoot it.

You cannot simulate the dynamics of a fired round by hand cycling.

The first thing I would look at is the magazine. I don't know about the B-M's but a lot of the Sistemas are coming in with some kind of cheap round-follower magazine that I promptly tossed in the junk box. I have bought some of the original Colt mags for $5 each, but you have to pick through a bunch to find good ones.
