Using rifleman's sling on pump slug gun?

I put sling swivels on my Mossberg 500 long ago. I thought the sling might be useful on long deer shots as well as climbing a tree, dragging a kil, etc.

Never used a sling on my shotgun as I do on a rifle, i.e. to steady my hold.

Now I'm installing a rifled barrel on my 500, so long, rifle shots might be a possibility.

Over the years, I learned a tight rifleman's sling didn't work well on many rifles, usually those with tubular mags or sling swivels attached directly to the barrel, like the Winchester, M16 or my Beeman R9. A sling may be used, but very lightly and only as a last resort.

Can you use a tight sling on a pump slug gun?

I don't know about for shooting, but I have added slings to most of my shotguns, even SxSs, because it's much easier to tote it along with decoys and all the other stuff.

Ive got a Sling on my Mossberg Shotgun, You may be able to use a Sling for steadying your shot when shooting slugs, but you would have to develop your own technique, for rechambering after the shot. It would work.
Good luck. I love the Mossberg Pump Shotgun, the controlls on them are right where God intended.
