I do think they are cool, and different, and give people another choice. I'd like to test the accuracy of a newer one with some of my hand loads.

I bought mine (a s/s variant) new in 1985 for $285.00. It's plenty accurate for what it is and I keep mine in the "RamBox" of my Ram pickup truck. Mine has proven to be reliable and durable.

I have got to get a really nice wood stock made for my mini sometime. The rifle just looks gorgeous.

Maybe a horse and a leather rifle saddle sleeve also.

One good thing about the M(ini)14 is that you can operate without looking like an operator.

It looks just like Dad's hunting rifle! They'll never be scared of it!

This reason continues to be a good reason for choosing a wood stock over an evil black, "tactical" one-helps to keep the ignorant from getting scared and sounding the alarm.

It looks less threatening than a Mini.

I swear I will build one in the near future. But I'm using a midlength gas, SL handguard and BCM grip.

OL4,I mean this in a friendly way.

This Old Man has a Daughter,a Grand Daughter, and a Niece.

One little/big lesson I have learned from them....Its not about me,or you. Convincing you is not on the agenda. At all.

Its about them.

Not every young girl thinks about camo'd up,blacked out operator testosterone stuff. A lot of girls/teens would feel pretty special if Dad or Grandpa made up a Pink AR just especially for them. And if it helps them enjoy shooting...if it helps it be fun, well, convincing you,...just is not on my "to do"list. :-)

Along with other objections to that color scheme, I also don't think a real gun should look like a toy. But hey, that's just me.

If it's what you and yours like, go for it.

(For the record, I have five daughters, four step daughters, and three nieces. I've never needed a hello kitty gun to make them feel special or want to go shooting.)

Oh, by the way, I know where there is a used Mini 14 for $600 if anyone is interested.

Well, did you two make plans for a shoot off?

This has gone on more than long enough and now a bunch of personal yak-yak has come in. It always has, and always will.

Enough for now; it will come up again, have no fear.
