Purchase suggestions

On Monday, two pistol purchase permits should be issued to me. For good reasons, too lengthy and personal, these will probably be the last two handguns that I will purchase.
I do not think I need a .380 or a .25. No need for me to list what I may already have. If your suggestion duplicates one I might already have, no problem.
It is likely that among your suggestions is something which has not previously occurred to me. So suggest as many as you like.
If possible, also list the price that you consider to be fair, a bargain or both.

Ruger gp 100 357 mag, and a Ruger Redhawk 44 mag. Or a Ruger single six 22 lr and wmr. Because everyone should have each of those calibers. Can you tell I like Ruger.

hmm, since you have two purchase permits I'm guessing you are in jersey? I have recently become enamored with Sig pistols so I would suggest a P228 if you can find one. I love mine and if you only have two more purchases indefinitely I would suggest using one on a Sig. Also, seeing as I do not know what you already own. If you don't already have a k frame S&W I would pick one up as your second of the 2. The only gun that goes with me on EVERY range trip is my model 18. Once I am done practicing with my carry gun, sighting in a new rifle, or accomplishing what ever other goal I had set, I relax by pinking with my M18.

If I could only have 2 guns they would be a 4" Ruger GP100 in 357 and a S&W M&P 9mm compact

Congratulations on your permits. My condolences for having to prove to a bureaucrat that you are worthy to own means of (take your choice..defending yourself, enjoying a sport, hunting, whatever). Please pardon my little pontification.

If we knew more about your goals, we could advise you better. Woods self defense is vastly different (depending on what woods you frequent) than city or suburbs self defense. Hunting is a different sport than most of the forms of target shooting.

Some people like to have handguns in the same caliber(s) as their other guns (e.g. my Ruger Bisley single action revolver chambers 45 ACP in one cylinder, the same as my 1911 guns). It makes the logistics of reloading simpler for them.

Do you reload? It widens the selection. For example, 454 Casull and 500 Smith are terribly expensive at full retail and 41 Magnum's selection of power levels is limited unless you can roll your own.

Help us help you. Picking someone else's gun is about as difficult as picking their future spouse.

Ruger gp100 in .357, and a Springfield XDm 4.5 in .45acp, I think its a good mix on reliability, concealability, and power to handle just about anything you need, and both can be had for about $600 each.

Woods Gun, House Gun= 4" 357
Pocket Gun, House Gun= LCR357 or 442 (no lock)
Waist Band, SP101
If your not a Revolver Guy like me, Glock 26. you have the option of small with 10 round mags, medium use G19 mags, or large use G17 mags.

Yep....pretty much. Without an intended purpose(other than owning two random handguns), it's hard to make a recommendation, other than the ever present "get one like mine" replies.

1 for home/ self defense .45ACP Sig P220 the most accurate & comfortable shooting .45 there is.

1 for the woods & just for fun with the magnum power: S&W 686 or Ruger GP 100, either one with 4-inch barrel

A good quality 1911 should be at the top of your list, whether in 45, 9mm or 38 super.

A good quality .22 semi-auto like a Ruger Mark I or II would be a must have as well.
