Any good recipes for Unique powder with Berry's 230 RN??

Just got my pistol rotor and insert for my powder measure and am ready to put together my first loads. I have a pound of Unique and will be reloading some Berry's 230 round nose bullets. Looking for recipes out there if anyone has some pet loads. FYI, these bullets will be exiting the muzzle end of my Springfield TRP. Thanks!

I just shot 25 rounds today at 6.2 grains Unique and 25 rounds at 6.4 grains. All cycled well in my P345.

I used mixed brass with CCI large pistol primers and used 1.265 OAL using Berry's 230 grain RN bullets if I recall off the top of my head.

Awesome! I'm using CCI primers as well. Was either load more accurate than the other or were they about the same?

For accuracy, the old school target load for 230-gr in a .45 Auto is 5.0-gr of Unique.

Very hard to say. The range I was at today was nuts! I had to shoot at a 25 yard steel plate that needed fresh paint. I hit it about every time with both loads. Saw no over pressure signs with either load. When the weather gets better, I will try the loads on paper at my other local range.

A reloading friend told me that his loads at 6.4 grains Unique do 850fps on average with FMJ 230 grain RN.

Maybe this Summer I will load down that far and see how I do on paper. My other go to load for .45acp is 4.3 grains of Bullseye. I am all for saving powder and recoil.

6.0 gr of Unique (CCI 300, Winchester brass, 1.125 OAL)worked well for me with HSM plated 230 gr. Accurate & reliable in my Springer Trophy Match.
I've since abandoned both Unique and, for the most part, plated .45 bullets. I switched to AA#5, it meters nicely compared to Unique. I use cast (Missouri) almost exclusively these days. Other than being a bit dirtier to shoot, there is no downside. The .45 is low pressure and low velocity, a great match for cast bullets.

Hmmmm. Being a new handloader to handguns, I have a couple of questions.
First: Isn't 5.0gr of Unique w/230 a little light? Lead, plated or jacketed?
Second: An OAL of 1.125". Isn't that a bit short for a 230gr bullet?
This isn't a knock on anybody, believe me. I'm asking, and still learning this handgun reloading stuff. All info is much appreciated. Thanks for your patience.

Mike,
The Unique load isn't my go to load, either. I only mentioned it because the OP specifically asked about Unique. My bad, I should have mentioned that. -Z-

Off topic follow-up question from me......I measured my OAL on some WWB ammo the other day and got 1.285". Does that seem too long to you guys?

finz50, I measured some factory .45 also. They're all over the map!
Rem. UMC: 1.245"

Magtech: 1.250"-1.270"[theres QC for ya!]

Speer Lawman: 1.270"

My own handloads are: 1.270"
Whenever I shoot the factory stuff, it all works. Like i said, still learning this handgun loading thing. But its fun.
