Not a fan of the lighter .45ACP loads, but nothing to complain about on this test for the 185gr Silvertip.

Anecdote alert:

the jackets were made out of aluminum. I think the idea was that aluminum would allow better expansion than the traditional copper jacket.

Yup, low velocity Silvertips like .380, .38, and .45 were aluminum, 9mm and .357 started out as nickel plated copper alloy.

An aluminum Silvertip could be seen to have a cannelure with a little bit of wax lube.
A shooter here got some with the lube omitted and found that naked aluminum fouls badly. Winchester replaced the ammo but didn't tell him how to clean out aluminum fouling.
