heavy barrel for Ruger Mini 30
Dear fellow gunnies, A few years ago I sent my Mini 14 to an outfit to have a Shilen heavy barrel installed. Great success, now shoots M.O.A. with all my handloads. I recently bought a Mini 30 and the best groups I can shoot are about 4". Not good enough even for plinking. Tried the outfit I used before but he no longer re-barrels.Does anybody out there know of gunsmith that works on and re-barrels Mini 30's? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks and good shootin' to ya, dgang __________________ I shoot, therefore I am.

Mini 30
When I had mine I found Remington Ammo shot very good groups, But all the military stuff was very bad. My son still hunts with it. Dan

I haven't used them but they get pretty good press on a Mini forum.

you need to register on the "PerfectUnion' site (it's free) and check the Mini pages. you may find as many others have that the M30 reponds well to stock shimming/bedding, trigger job, bore polish and muzzle crown clean up.
mine is getting about 1 1/2 MOA with my good handloads and 1.5X4.5 glass off rolled up sleeping bag rest at 100 yds. maybe little better if I have a good day. |
