Ar Upper
Ok so I find myself building my first AR and I want input on an upper. I do not need it to be the cheapest, but I also do not have an unlimited budget. What are your thoughts on the best bang for the buck on uppers.

AR15?
Palmetto State has some deals running now that fill me with regret for what I paid a few years ago. Palmetto shipping is slow. A couple hundred dollars for an upper, a hundred more for BCG and CH and you've a useful item. Mind the barrel on some of the assembled uppers or complete rifle from any place. If an AR had a phosphate barrel, I don't think I would find a $400 price all that alluring.

I plan to use it as a range toy, possible hd, but mostly for my boys 8 and 12 to shoot at the range with me while I shoot my most favorite of guns "AR10". I would love to say that someday it would be use for predators, but I can't beat shooting extreme distances at predators with a 22-250 bolt action. Maybe the boys can shoot predators with it.

I'm guessing that HD would rule out the 20 inch models.

I have purchased from PSA and in my opinion the Freedom uppers and CHF uppers are good to go. I have purchased various items from PSA and haven't had any problems with shipping time.

This is my first "build" so I got the "kit"...
http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-1...516444750.html Which I really don't count as a build. If you just want an upper nose around the "deal of the day" I bought one of PSA's stripped lowers and you are in business in an hour... http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-a...fire-1728.html I had no problem with PSA's shipping times. I think that's internet history from quite awhile back.

Every where has complete uppers and even with BCG on sale now days. Do a google search. Just don't look at Palmetto. Aim Surplus, Hardened arms, Grab a Gun, DPMS, and hundreds more. Make up your own mind. They are easy to assemble. Like Legos.

In the end I will make up my own mind I just like hearing from others what they have used and enjoyed, found to be good or bad, or just opinions.
