I'm just getting into hunting and I'd like some suggestions on good hunting magazines. I'm in Northern Kalifornia and I'd like to hunt a variety of game just to see what I like: squirrel hunting w/ the boys, turkeys, quail, pheasant and deer (don't know which kind - whatever's most prevalent in these parts). I think that will do for a start.

For broad info, I like Field & Stream, and Outdoor Life. You can also check out www.fieldandstream.com or www.alloutdoors.com

Check to see if your state wildlife dept. has it's own magazine. Most states do and I'm sure KA does too. You can usually find the info on these mags. in your state hunting and/or fishing regulation books. They give you game info, harvest tallies, and break it down to different sections of the state. I also like Field & Stream and Outdoor Life. Lots of good stories and info.

Check out the magazine:"California Fish and Game." It is available on most news stands in the state. They have pretty good where to and how to articles on hunting and fishing in the state of Kalifornia. Welcome to the fold:^) RKBA!

I'm a big fan of Petersen's Hunting and the North American Hunting Club. Both seem to be well written and have at least a couple of great articles a month. Both also have sections dedicated to different disciples, ie. handgunning, archery, muzzle loading, shotgunning, etc..
Petersen's can be found on most magazine stands, or you can find out more on both at the following web addresses: http://www.petersenco.com/ http://www.huntingclub.com/ Good luck to you and your family in your hunting trips! |
