Part 2 of the Ruger Old Army Projectile test

In this episode I put a 225-grain conical bullet through it's paces in the Ruger Old Army Buntline.

This projectile had the best accuracy and muzzle energy of the three.

Again, well done. I have never shot conicals out of my ROA but was always led to believe that the RB's were more accurate. Gong to have to rethink that one. ....

I also noticed that you did not refer to the use of #10 primers or seating dowel. Just going to assume that is what you used. ....

Yup. I know I need to repeat some info from one video to another in this series, but I try to avoid too much rehash. I probably should have put that scene in.

I'm not sure how much the accuracy results apply to all ROA's since in a previous video about that gun, I believe that it was mentioned that a Shilen barrel blank was used to build it. And it probably has slightly different specifications than a Ruger barrel, especially concerning its length.
Of course, whether the accuracy results are scientific or not, we all love watching Mike make smoke any way that he can!

That is true. the 14", octagon barrel was machined from a Shillen match grade barrel blank.

It also has a fully tuned action. What can I say, it is a real custom gun.

I'm working out a loan of a pair of stock ROAs, one in 7.5" and the other in 5.5" from a pard in California. After I get them I'll run some tests to see how the stock guns perform.

I'd certainly be interested in what the stock Old Army's do!
I'm a little guy and the 7 1/2" barrel on mine is enough! That thing would probably pull my pants down!
