Steyr AUG

My 30 year old AUG was a Safe Queen, why test fire it, they always work?

Well..... Went out to a private Range, with my Son, he was firing his new AR type rifle, a Sig, it shot everything he fed it. All mil spec.

My AUG? fired one in 5! Very light primer hits, called Steyr in Alabama.
"We have a new firing pin, complete with a return, Spring" $60.00

Took me an hour to put this new firing pin in! You need 3 hands!
A good cleaning of the bolt as well.

Need to find a day for the range now, have not fired my carry Glock 19 since my Security Officer re-qual.

Do not expect any problem with my Glock 19 4th gen. But you always have that I wonder will it be OK? feeling, when it just sits in a holster.

It is sitting behind me, on my night table. Looks great. TruGlo night sights glowing green. I know the Glock will work, the AUG? We will see.

What kind of ammo were you using? My AUG will choke on cheaper ammo like tula unless I change the gas regulator to the dirty setting. Hope the new firing pin and spring work out for you.

New Mil Spec ammo, I think I tried the dirty setting, but that has no bearing on the firing, light hits are just that light hits.

I might take a trip to the local indoor range, too windy out. But the new FP is longer, for sure.
