Reasons not to like DPSM Oracle 308?

Hey there,

Considering a DPSM Oracle in 308 for the purpose of having a fun 308 at the range. Yes expensive to the 5.56, but won't be shot a whole ton.

Without getting into the 5.56 vs .308 (which I am still unsure about after reading everything), is there a reason not to go with the Oracle?

Looks like a decent rifle for the price. DPMS has come a long way over the years. Add a nice scope and upgrade the trigger and I bet you'll be shooting nice size groups with ease.

Only reason to not like them is the cheap plastic stock and a bad trigger. Everyone I've seen has shot decent enough and been reliable.

I have an old DPMS LRT SASS and it's still a tack-driver. I had a sportical, it also was a tack-driver. DPMS gets knocked a lot on forums--but the two I bought performed very well.

Have a handful of AR's but my doorgreeter go to AR is my DPMS base model!
I have shot the heck out of it and never any issue after 1500+ rounds!!

I have DPMS dedicated .22, AR 15 A2 20" barrel and a LR 308, whats not to like? Each has consumed thousands of rounds (the LR 308 about 500) wiithout a single failure that i can remember. The 308 especially is a tack driver and soft shooter.

I don't specifically have the oracle but have used and own several DPMS rifles

Never had any problems at all, shoot well and are reliable

Don't forget also that there are tons of aftermarket parts

If you get the rifle and dislike something about it (such as trigger or stock) then you can simply upgrade it

I'm not a fan of a carbine gas system on ARs, and I think the Oracle is a carbine gas. Prefer a mid gas and the longer rails.

I own a DPMS Oracle LR-308.
It is very accurate, at least as accurate as my 68 year old hands and eyes can be.
I have a 2.5-12 scope on it and can shoot sub-1" groups at 100 yards all day long.
What's not to like??

Weight. I carried a .308 Bushmaster AR10 in the field for hunting for many years. Dropped it in favor of a 6.8. A lot less weight with 80% of the stopping power of a .308. My AR10 has become a safe queen. Weight is the biggest reason to go with an alternative AR15 caliber like 6.8 or 6.5 Grendel.

None, I have one aND would recommend buying one. I have a 1x4 leupold scope with a laser sight and tactical 500 lum flashlight mounted on it. I put a magpul forearm stock on so I could mount the flashlight and sling mount.

I chose to not tac out my DPMS.
I put a set of Magpul backup sights on it and added the scope and a bipod.
Yes, it is heavy, but the power of that .308 is what I wanted.
You shoot a feral hog with it and he's done. Period.
I have 2 AR/M4 carbines in 5.56 and a Ruger Mini-30 also.
But shooting that AR-10 is sweet.
