WST is good for light loads and is pretty much limited to that application. There is a newer powder that's a good bit slower than Bullseye and is close to W231 but it outperforms 231 and burns cleaner than any of the powders mentioned except WST and that's Ramshot ZIP: www.ramshot.com

I forgot to mention that it's a spherical (ball) powder that's fairly dense and meters exceptionally.

I like Bullseye BUT reload a lot more 9 than 45 so usually end up using Unique for both. Don't see any difference as far as metering or dirty is concerned.

I started out with Bullseye when I first started shooting target with .45s and it shot ok. I switched to Clays because it was bulkier (filled the case more with less weight), cleaner burning and at least as accurate. About 2 years ago I switched to WST and it is the most accurate of what I tried and the cleanest. It is all I load for target loads and use Zip if I have any need for heavier loads.

I have tried both and PLEASE stay away from Bullseye. Mistakes will cost you more than a 1911. Too much and toooo much boom!

Unique is good stuff and was standard for many application for year. That's why it is called Unuque! But newer powders meter much better. I shoot 9.5-10.2 grains AA #5 pushing 185s. It works well for 230s too but I prefer the higher volicity. As blind as I am, I can hold a 2" group at 75 ft. I shoot it in a SA da. Good luck!

does anyone know if the new Unique is actually cleaner than the older Unique ?
Not much.
I use Bullseye, W-231 and Accurate #5 for 45acp.

I'm running Bullseye in my 45 ACP and 9mm loads. I use Unique in my 45 Colt loads.
