SBS Question
If I were to already own an 870 and plan on doing an SBS once the form 1 came back approved, would it be legal for me to go ahead and buy the barrel before the stamp comes back or would this fall into the "intent" domain according to the BATFE?

My understanding on this is;
Yes you can buy the barrel. No you can't store it anywhere close to your gun. My class III/SOT told me that it is not uncommon for people to order a barrel through a dealer and let the dealer hold it till the form 1 comes back and the engraving is done.

The NFA components cannot be stored at the same address as the weapon...that is considered intent, and will get your compound burnt to the ground...you can ask your neighbor to hold it for you, which is totally legal, but you cannot bring over your shotgun to the neighbor's house until your stamp comes back...
