I have stopped posting to Tom Bower's MG list after failing to convince that crowd that posting pornography and demeaning women in general right in the firearms-related posts was 1)stupid 2)counter-productive [they managed to alienate women, Jews (aka ZOG there), gays, etc.] 3) irrelevant to the discussion at large.
Only a few people on that list are offensive, but it flavors the whole. As a result, my GF is now a lurker at thefiringline. She had wondered if the rest of the readers would support a forum on Women and Guns, as they are generally less likely to be pro-gun to start with and would not be more in favor of gun ownership through actions of some (armed) chauvinist pig so common on-line. Thoughts? ------------------ If you believe in freedom and means of protecting it...you might be a gun nut. http://ddb.com/RKBA [This message has been edited by cornered rat (edited 01-30-99).] |

CR-
This has been discussed here before, but it's a welcome renewal. (Reset the Suggestions Forum to look back over the past few months...there's not that many titles to scan thru...you/she should find it easily). I would consider a lady's Forum if we saw an overwhelming demand from the Members. My personal feeling is that to create a separate Lady's Forum is demeaning. After all, there's very little that a woman cannot do with a firearm at least as well as any man. Your Lady is welcome here anytime. She'll join the ranks of several other tactically interested and knowledgeable females that post regularly and she might teach the rest of us a few things. Have her come out of the closet. Rich |

That is exactly how I explained the absence of the forum to begin with...glad to see my wild guess getting right for a change. My GF approves of the concept!

Cornered Rat...
I personally don't see the need for one as firearms are not a gender based issue, hobby, belief what have you. I believe it to have somewhat of a devisive potential; very much like the free speech protests of the 60's evolving into the PC speech of the 90's. As Rich says, if there is sufficient demand, fine...but he won't be able to shanghai me into being the moderator ------------------ "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes" |

DC-
"...he won't be able to shanghai me into being the moderator" That's what you said last time, and we wound up with one of the most knowledgeable, level headed Political Moderators on the Web! Rich |

Cornered Rat,
By all means get your girl friend to join us here. We'd be welcome to have her. Personally, I think it would be good to get more of a womans view on many of the issues we dicuss here. It would help balance things out. |

A target cannot discern whether the bullet which struck it was fired by a woman or a man.
