I just got back from Cabelas. They had some H335 in stock so I'll get to mess with some loads this weekend.

Hornady FMJ-BT 25 grains H-335 Standard SRP Last time out I had some new steel plates I wanted to test to see if they were hard enough. I stuck a small exploding target on each plate, four total at 100 yards. The exploding targets have a spot the size of a quarter you have to hit to make them explode. Shooting with elbows on a table I took all four out with the first four shots. I'll take that any day.

I hand weighed 20 rounds with 25 grains last night and put some 55 gr bullets in them. After I test those rounds tomorrow, I'll set up the 550 and burn up that pound of H335.

my deuce likes it
I use H335 and a mag primer with a 50gr bullet in my 222, it groups better than any other load I have tried. I have loaded some with the standard primer and noticed a slightly larger group.

CAUTION: The following post includes loading data beyond currently published maximums for this cartridge. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The Firing Line, nor the staff of TFL assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information.
Savage Edge, 22 inch barrel, 1x9 twist with Rifle Basix trigger. 50 vmax with 26.5 g H335 using LC09 brass and Rem 7.5 primer gives me about 3,215 fps and shoots between .4 and .5 moa consistently. Oal is set at 2.300. 55 vmax with with same primer and brass using 25g H335 gives right at 2,900fps and shoots right at .25 moa. Using 25.6g ups the velocity to about 3,100 fps but accuracy falls off to about .5 moa. Oal set at 2.344 for both. Haven't tried a shorter oal like I would use for my AR. Work up to these loads cautiously and start at least 1.5 g lower. They are above max from Hodgdon website with 50 and 55 gr bullets, but below max from Sierra's website for their 50 and 55 grain bullets. No pressure signs with these loads in my rifle, but you know the drill. |

Is H-335 a bit flashy? I was shooting yesterday under and overcast sky, and It looked like I was getting a bit of flash.
I don't mind it. But I don't get that from 748, Varget, or TAC. |

I'm going to take some out Wednesday evening and shoot it in one of my 11.5" barrels. I don't mind a little flash.
